Let's go for a walk among the stars

One of my favorite iPhone (and now iPad) apps, To Walk, today is the birthday of 2 years of marking. In celebration of this event Vito Technology is having a sale 24 hours of their two other "walk" apps, Geo Walk and solar Walk (next review detailed).

Vito Technology was also kind enough to give iPad Corral some promo codes to Star Walk to give away as well. we have 2 keys for version iPad and 2 for the iPhone.

To get a chance at one of the codes just send an email to info at ipadcorral dot com (or send a message through our about page), let us know which device that will be used for Star gaze and we select the winners randomly and notifies you via email within 48 hours.

iPad battery: first impression

One of the biggest concerns I had about the iPad was battery life. Initially scoffed at the 10 hours Apple he was throwing the alleged. I'm happy to report that from the box, and on a partial loads, I was able to get a solid 6 hours from my iPad 16 GB.

My use during this period was download all applications iPad free that I could find, Web browsing and watching the first 3 episodes of new series of ABC television V with them pretty nice app iPad (complete review that
in the near future).

I'd be curious to see how battery of iPad you run with a couple of full charge and usage cycles under his belt. This unofficial test battery led me to discover an annoying "short coming" of iPad: its include charging cable is too short Flippin'. Although I did notice the iPad uses a similar power brick supply my MacBook Pro, so I'm going to see if I can extend the available using the cable MBP.

iPad Nirvana of use; It'll cost you

The initial phase of honey owned iPad finished only after a few weeks and at that time I wasn't necessarily regretting my purchase, but I was having difficulty recommending an iPad to all those who asked about it.  What prompted me to change my purchase recommendation for people was that I finally found using sweet spot of my iPad, and it's all about the Apps .There are plenty of free applications available for the iPad, namely what I restricted only for the first month or so.  During that time I used the iPad primarily as a web navigation device and it was during that time that I heard that I wasn't using it almost as much as I'd hoped.  More times than not I choose to use my MacBook over the iPad if I knew that I needed to do more than just surf the web. It wasn't until I loosened the purse strings and bought a few paid apps that I've seen my usage (and the level of satisfaction with my purchase) of my increase iPad significantly.   Specifically purchase ToodleDo to help me manage my to-DOS; iTap RDP to access my Windows machines, NewsRack as a feed reader and TouchPad as a replacement keyboard and mouse for my computer in room .to live most of your iPad, you will probably have to spend a few (more). iPhone applications, for me at least, I'm more of a connivance to a point of sale.  Not so with the iPad.

AutoCAD + iPad = iCADPAD

Once I worked at an architectural and engineering firm, where we were always Autodesk software of deep knee. AutoCAD was and is, the standard software package used and official release of AutoCAD WS today for other platforms of IOS and iPad did smile monkey retired cad in me.

One of the Holy grails of CAD is the ability to access, modify and redline electronic drawings on the go. There are solutions that have tried, * cough * * cough * DWF, but ultimately a roll of paths of drawings and a KOH-I-NOOR Rapidomatic * with red lead yet done the heavy lifting.

WS AutoCAD on iPad may eventually make the dreams of many architects and engineers come true.

* Still only mechanical pencil that will use

iPad to get iPhone 4.0 this fall

Today was the big announcement about the new features in iPhone OS 4.0.  If you have not yet up to speed on all the features, go to get real quick comparison instead of iPhone 4.0 of ars technica.

Back? Good.

While I'm excited about multitasking, I don't think this will revolutionize how I'm currently using my iPad or iPhone.  I'm anticipating e-mail features more than anything else.I have 7 currently synchronizing email accounts on my iPad, and navigation that jungle mail is tiring. The new app folders option will be great for iPhone users, but it's not so sure iPad users. even though I could see me all my non-dumping iPad optimized apps into a folder to get them out of sight, but still have access to them. iAds has intrigued I expect further developing an iPad app.

Time to wait and see what other curiosities turn as people start to rip in SDK.

P.S.

Is it me or is Steve job's and Apple spend more time on stage in these days of a rock band?
